E-Learning Certificate Program

We recommend that you apply for the IBC E-Learning MA in Buddhist Studies Program. However, if you are not interested in MA degrees or just want to learn the basic Buddhist doctrine, you may apply for this program.

Courses

The program on E-Learning Certificate in Buddhist Studies consists of three 3-credit courses (total of 9 credits). The E-Learning program is flexible in terms of duration for the completion of the program. Students can do the program on a course by course basis if they choose to.

BP201 Early Buddhism: Basic Doctrines 3(3-0-6)
BP205 Mahāyāna Buddhism: Basic Doctrines 3(3-0-6)
BP319- Social Philosophy of Buddhism 3(3-0-6)

There will be a instructor each (IBC MA students) for the subjects enrolled to offer assistance if need be.

Teaching

Once the applicant registers online, the student then access the web based materials at his/her convenience. The student will be followed up by the instructor by email as a web based interactive distance learning.

In general, the course is designed as weekly based: one week study one subject; one subject requires at least three hours study (one subject requires 45 hours study). The whole program should be completed in one year.

Assessment

Students will be assessed the online examinations of each course completed.
Candidates who obtain the required standard will be awarded the Certificate in Buddhist Studies.
